Time for a good read? It’s raining and cold outside in Memphis. On days like today, I love to curl up by the fire with my dogs and a book while I read for inspiration and think big …

What are my favorites? These three top the list:

Hit Makers | Derek Thompson

In this best seller, Derek Thompson discusses the psychology of why we ‘like what we like’, doing a deep dive into the underground economics of why certain products have cult followings.  There’s a lot to takeaway from the tactics and success stories in this practical business book.  What can you implement towards successful promotions utilizing logoed merchandise for your customers?

The Art of Possibility | Rosamund Stone Zander & Benjamin Zander

This book is truly unique. Co-authored by Rosamund Zander, a family therapist, and Benjamin Zander, conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, they bring a dynamic perspective to thinking outside of the box.  One of my favorite takeaways is Zander’s “leading from the 2nds” referencing the 2nd string violinists.   Even if you’re not the CEO, you can lead from the 2nd too!

Linchpin | Seth Godin

I’m a huge fan of Seth Godin, the best selling author, teacher, and leader who inspires millions. I am such a fan that I even took it as far as obtaining an AltMba in his Akimbo program.  Of all of his writings, this one stands out for me.  My favorite quote from the book: “What would it take for you to stop the show?”   Be a showstopper.
